Description
A breaching humpback whale taking a breath. This whale is nicnamed Bowman after my father. Here is a link to this whales website http://www.happywhale.com/individual/1826. The humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is a species of baleen whale. It is one of the larger rorqual species, with adults ranging in length from 39–52 ft and weighing around 28–33 tons. The humpback has a distinctive body shape, with long pectoral fins and a knobbly head. It is known for breaching and other distinctive surface behaviors, making it popular with whale watchers.

Shoal, what a stunning capture. Is that its eye on the side? f/l
Shoal Hollingsworth replied:
Thank you Cindy. The right side of the photo is his back, nostrils and upper jaw, the left is his lower jaw. Just behind where the box comes together is his eye.
